What are the #HR 2024 #WorkTrends?

 

Gartner has come up with the "HR Toolkit: 9 Future of Work Trends for 2024". And I must admit, some of them are refreshingly bold!

 

As always, I have done the reading and summarizing on your behalf, so you can save your most precious resource, namely your time:

 

1. The cost-of-work crisis reaches a breaking point

 

2. AI creates, not diminishes, workforce opportunity

 

3. Four-day workweeks go from radical to routine (with a loooooong way to go in some regions and in more traditionally-led organisation)

 

4. Employee conflict resolution is the new must-have skill for managers

 

5. GenAI experiments will yield hard lessons and painful costs

 

6. Skills overtake degrees as the paper ceiling crumbles (Again with major room to improve in some regions, especially in traditional organisations who prefer degrees and certificates over capability and skills)

 

7. Climate change protection becomes the new in-demand employee benefit

 

8. DEI doesn’t disappear, it becomes the way we work

 

9. Career stereotypes collapse in the face of workforce change

 

As the study points out, In 2024 -despite historic uncertainty- #CHROs have an exciting opportunity to lead talent into the future and differentiate their organisations as #EmployersOfChoice

 

They should proactively consider and integrate trends into their strategic planning to close talent gaps, minimise potential risk, control conflict, and achieve strong workforce performance. And this year, HR leaders are increasingly pivotal as business leaders express difficulty in acquiring talent that aligns with organisational needs.

 

Additionally, business leaders will find that adaptability and human-centric skills are increasingly crucial, and companies will need to improve their investment in development and training to build the manager pipelines of the future.

 

Talking of which: One of the best investments in your senior leadership is targeted #ExecutiveCoaching

 

But don't take my word for it.
