This is the fascinating question ⚡ of the International Coaching Federation that more than 10K globally dispersed participants chose to respond to. 

As always, I've done the reading and summarizing of the 44 page study on your behalf, so you can save your most precious ✨ asset, namely your time ⏰:

💡Key Insights

1. The Extent to Which Clients are Asking for Help and Reasons for Needing Help

A significant majority (85%) of coach practitioners have clients who seek assistance with their mental well-being. Although these clients currently represent a minority, with only 26% of coaches reporting that more than half of their clients seek help in this area, it remains an important aspect of coaching practice

Globally, 50% of coach practitioners report that they play a significant role in supporting their clients’ well-being, though this involvement varies by region. In Asia, only 39% of practitioners are heavily engaged in enhancing their clients’ well-being, whereas this figure increases to 61% in Latin America and the Caribbean. Overall, only 6% of practitioners worldwide indicate that well-being is not a focus in their work with clients

2. Reasons Clients Seek Help with Mental Well-Being

When clients seek assistance with their mental well-being, business or career issues are the most frequently cited contributing factors, with 78% of coach practitioners reporting this trend. This pattern is consistent across all regions, with Western Europe showing the highest prevalence: 83% of coaches there note that career-related issues are a primary reason clients request suppor

3. Techniques Used to Support Client Well-Being

Mindfulness, visualization, and meditation are the most frequently employed techniques by both internal and external coach practitioners to support their clients’ well-being. Additionally, fostering social engagement, especially with individuals who have faced similar situations, is encouraged. Internal coaches are more likely to use this technique (29%) compared to external coaches (25%), with those who work as both internal and external coaches using it even more frequently (31%)

4. Effectiveness of Advised Strategies

The most effective strategies are those used least frequently, such as self-reflection, self-growth, and self-care, which are employed by only 6% of coaches globally. Additionally, strategies that are designed and tailored to the individual are used by 5% of coach practitioners. These approaches are described as extremely or very effective by the vast majority of those who use them with their clients
