DDI | Development Dimensions International has produced the latest Global Leadership Forecast, the longest-running & largest leadership study of its kind with +10K leaders participating

Key Insights

1. Trust is the cornerstone of organizational success, but it is swiftly eroding in today's unpredictable global environment. The % of leaders who trust their managers has fallen from 46% in 2022 to 29% in 2024. Without strategic intervention, this decline in trust risks escalating, negatively impacting employee retention, the leadership pipeline, & overall organizational performance

💡 How leaders can strategically rebuild trust:
I Listen and respond with genuine empathy
II Encourage others to speak up without fear of reprisal
III Share thoughts and rationale for decisions
IV Encourage others to challenge old ways of doing things

2. The consequences of stress & burnout: When leaders don't have the necessary information & tools to perform their roles effectively, they are 2x as likely to worry about experiencing burnout. 71% experienced significant increase in stress, 54% concerned about burnout, & 40% considered leaving their organization

💡This pattern indicates that time management & access to essential resources are crucial defenses against professional exhaustion. Leaders in supportive work environments are:
10x more likely to excel in their roles
3x less likely to experience chronic stress

Key factors include work-life balance, organizational support, trust in their managers, & access to required learning resources

3. Leader quality ratings have persistently remained low over the past 15 years, averaging around 40%

💡Leaders are:
19x more likely to rate leadership quality as high when leaders within their organization exhibit strong interpersonal skills
15x more likely to rate leadership quality as high when they have access to highly rated leadership development experiences
12x more likely to rate leadership quality as high when their organization prioritizes employee well-being
4x more likely to rate leadership quality as high when their organization supports flexible work arrangements
