🤫 Can a “quiet” leader thrive in today’s noisy 📣 world?

In a world obsessed with hashtag#PersonalBranding, media buzz, & LinkedIn virality — a surprising trend is emerging

The most effective CEOs are often the least visible

Howard Yu’s latest research reveals that “silent CEOs” consistently outperform their more vocal peers — not just in perception, but in actual business results

📉 While high-profile leaders chase headlines, silent CEOs:

1. Focus relentlessly on execution
2. Build deep internal trust
3. Empower teams without ego
4. Let results speak louder than rhetoric

Take Satya Nadella at Microsoft or Shantanu Narayen at Adobe. They’re not dominating social feeds — they’re quietly transforming their companies & delivering massive shareholder value 📈

💡 The insight?

Leadership isn’t about volume 🔊, it’s about value 📈

In fact, the data shows that companies led by “silent operators”:

1. Deliver stronger long-term performance

2. Navigate crises with more agility

3. Foster cultures of accountability and innovation

This is in line with Dr. Robert Hogan's findings published a while ago. Popular wisdom will have you believe that a leader is someone who exudes confidence & charisma because they appear smart, interesting, & engaging.

However, more often than not, these types of leaders wreak havoc on the workplace. A growing body of research suggests that hashtag#Humility is a far more important quality in a leader than hashtag#Charisma

As a coach, I’ve seen this firsthand:

1. The best leaders don’t have to be the loudest in the room

2. They need to be the clearest in purpose — & the most consistent in action.

A question for hashtag#Boards and investors:

Are you selecting leaders based on charisma… or capability?

And for aspiring executives:

Are you building a brand — or building a business?

📣 But don't take my word for it. Take it from a Vice President Solution Architecture of a top technology company who faced a challenging role on the back end of an internal promotion who didn'T have great chemistry with his newly appointed line manager

He described the executive transition coaching support as:

💬 “Working with Navid has been a transformative experience in my role. His insights & guidance helped me refine my strategic approach, leading to more effective solution designs & seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams. Navid's ability to break down complex challenges & provide actionable advice has been invaluable to my professional growth. His coaching style is both empowering & results-driven, making a significant impact on my leadership & decision-making skills.”

If you enjoyed this post, share it with a "quiet" leader you admire.
