2025 The year of Leadership Crisis?! What Every Executive Must Know Now

 

The Global Leadership Forecast 2025 from DDI | Development Dimensions International reveals a concerning 🚨trend!

 

❗71% of leaders have reported a significant increase in stress since stepping into their current roles, up from 63% in 2022. This surge in stress is not just an individual issue but a systemic vulnerability that could lead to a #leadership exodus!

 

Key Findings

 

1. 54% of stressed leaders are worried about burnout

2. 40% have considered leaving their roles to improve their wellbeing

3. Burned-out leaders are 34% less likely to rate their effectiveness above peers

4. They are also half as likely to be engaged in their roles, impacting team morale and the wider organization

 

❓Why the Stress?

 

👉🏼 The primary catalyst is time ⏱️scarcity 🔥

 

Leaders who feel they lack adequate time are twice as likely to be concerned about burnout. And, those without the necessary tools & information to perform effectively are at higher risk

 

🏘️ Impact on Work Models

1. Onsite leaders: 74% report stress

2. Hybrid leaders: 57% report burnout

3. Remote leaders: 56% report burnout

 

The report underscores the urgency for organizations to address stress management & ensure leaders have the time & support needed to effectively perform their work. This is crucial for maintaining a healthy leadership pipeline and preventing a structural breakdown

 

Some executives are simply not able to do it anymore. As I stated in my book in the year 2020: "executive transitions are indeed highly stressful & often energy-depleting. As a result, the executive in transition must ensure they build up and optimize the levels of intent, focus, & energy to endure &, some would say, survive & thrive"
